Considering church planting in Scotland?
The Ember Project exists to equip men who are discerning a call to pastoral ministry through church planting or church revitalisation in Scotland. We recognise that long-term gospel work in a post-Christian context requires more than vision or enthusiasm—it requires patient formation, deep roots in the local church, and a genuine love for the people and culture being served.

Through Wallyford Community Church and in partnership with like-minded churches across Scotland, The Ember Project provides a church-based pathway for pastors and their families to grow in character, conviction and practical ministry skill. This is not a fast-track programme, but a deliberate season of preparation shaped by the ordinary rhythms of Scottish pastoral life.

Our aim is to develop godly, resilient ministry teams who are equipped to plant new churches and revitalise existing ones for the long-term health and gospel growth of Scotland and beyond. We invest in people who are willing to listen well, serve faithfully, and commit to building relationships over time.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Church-Based Formation:

Immersive training within Wallyford Community Church and local partner churches, rooted in real congregational life.
Mentoring and Oversight:
​
Ongoing guidance from experienced pastors, with space for reflection, feedback, and disernment.
Team Development:
​
Preparation for ministry alongside others, as you develop a team with guidance to church plant with you.
Pastoral Experience:
​
Hands-on involvement in preaching, pastoral care, leadership, administration, and team ministry.
Cultural Immersion:
​
Intentional engagement with Scottish culture and communities, developing cultural humility and long-term relational investment.
A Clear Pathway to Sending:
​
Discernment and preparation toward church planting in a specific location within Scotland.
